THEME: FLUTE BEATBOX

NATHAN 'FLUTEBOX' LEE
INFO: Flute beatboxing (also known as fluteboxing) represents an innovation in the extended technique of the flute, or conversely, an extension in innovative sound resonators for beatboxing. Involving the production of distinct and stereoscopic flute tones (producing two separate sounds by humming while blowing into the flute) combined with vocal percussion and aural prestidigitation (slight-of-ear), flute beatboxing enables the use of the flute as a rhythmic instrument.
Most beatbox historians credit RadioActive as the original flute-beatboxer (using a pan flute, and performing with the Spearhead around the world), and Tim Barsky with being the original innovator in the field of flute beatboxing on a classical Boehm system flute. Both artists came out of the Bay Area hip-hop scene, where beatboxing has flourished since its inception.
In recent years the technique has been shaped into an art form by Nathan "Flutebox" Lee and Chrys Pyro. Nathan remains one of the few that can master the playing style, playing with such groups as The Prodigy, Asian Dub Foundation and his own band The Clinic.
Greg Pattillo has developed a system of essentially traditional notation for flute beatboxing with one staff for the flute and one - similar to that for drum kits since beatboxing is based on the three sounds of the hit-hat, snare rimshot, and bass drum - for the percussive effects.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

I like this work because: this artist travels a lot telling by there postcards, i also like the idea of drawing on postcards instead of writing on them
I think the work is made by: post cards from countries or town's where this artist has been to and also a variety of his or her drawing tools
The ideas within the work are.

I like this work because: its simple and funny
I think the work is made by: a dead fly and a marker to draw the horse
The ideas within the work are: making 2D drawings more interesting by adding an object to interact with the drawing, it also makes the work funny and back to life.

I like this work because: it covers the blank wall with an eye catching pattern through out the way
I think the work is made by: white and light blue spray cans or paint
The ideas within the work are: covering blank empty walls in vibrate coloured patterns or images, making buildings and communities attractive or good looking in a way.

STEVE LOVETTE

The object in this work is rap or a paper bag that has green Teniwha printings around it and has printed images of a kiwi and Marae over lapping the green printings. I strongly feel that this artist is trying to communicate and show his identity with this work.

The work has clearly been photoshopped it shows that the lady has been cropped out and put on to a picture of the beach, proof of this is by failing to crop out a someone's hand on her shoulder.

The object in this work is originally a stop sign, this artist/student has cut out a sticker with the words eating animals in caps and stuck it on to the object to become one. Clearly saying stop eating animals.

MAN RAY

Photograms.
Made- 1922.
In 1915 man ray met french artists marcel duchamp and together they collaborated on many inventions and formed the New York of DaDa artists. In 1921,Ray moved to paris and became associated with the parisian Dada and surrealist circles of artists and writers. His experiments with photography including rediscovering how to make "camera-less" pictures, which he caleld RAYOGRAPHS.

JOAN FONTCUBERTA

The images shown have not been created with a camera. Instead, they are made from drops of blood deposited onto transparent glass slides which, when placed in the amplifier, creates a negative. The images are projected onto photographic paper, and are then printed and inverted, in order to be later converted into a positive.
The blood samples come from both friends of Fontcuberta and strangers, such that, in a way, each one of these photographs could be a portrait. In some sense, they allow casualty to come into play, they can associate each image with some attribute of the person to who they pertain. In this moment of his career Fontcuberta was interested more in essence than forms: "I marvel at, above all, the form without form, at the multiple readings that can be applied to these works." Joan Fontcuberta.
